Precognitive:
A precognitive dream is one that foretells a future event.
These dreams are especially common shortly before a major disaster or catastrophic event and are not restricted to the dreamer’s physical location. For example, many people dreamed of President Kennedy’s assassination. More recently, many people have reported dreaming of tempestuous storms or floods before the tsunami devastation.
It may also be helpful to look at the dream in terms of one’s personal experiences, as some precognitive dreams are focused exclusively on the dreamer’s own life.
A related type of psychic dream occurs when a dream reveals information that is otherwise unknown. For example, if you are house hunting and express an interest in a specific house and then dream the price will be reduced soon, but that you should stay away from the homeowners anyway, you are clearly being guided away from that house. Heed the warning. (In that case, the price was lowered, but more importantly, if that house had been purchased, the dreamer and her spouse would not have been able to buy the house they are still in more than twenty years later.)
Another woman reported many psychic dreams indicating each time her daughter-in-law was pregnant and specific incidences of undisclosed problems in the lives of family members. When her husband took a new job, she dreamed of the exact phone number as the phone was being installed in the office that day. Most of this information was interesting to say the least, but not particularly helpful or insightful.
A precognitive dream may be your dream psyche’s way of alerting you that your
intuitive side is capable of much growth. Instead of marveling at the bizarre occurrence of dreaming of someone’s phone number before they tell it to you, enjoy the dream, but also give some thought to serious creative and intuitive development.
